By Best Air Public Relation Division
Dhaka: Private airline Best Air, on Sunday August 24 2008,
announced that it had added one new MD83 aircraft to consolidate
its international network.
Speaking to newsmen while receiving the airplane at ZIA,
Chairman and CEO Mr. M Haideruzzaman said
the MD83 aircraft have been
leased from Trans Global Airways. This new addition has

trying to face challenges of the rising fuel cost," he said,
recalling many airlines have succumbed to the challenge. "We
definitely want to survive." He said domestic and international
air traffic has dropped by 40 percent as compared to last year
because of higher fares. "Best Air has taken a number of
initiatives to control cost. All our aircraft are configured
economy class. "
Mr. Haider said the new MD83 aircraft will primarily be used on
upcoming routes between DAC-SIN, DAC-KUL, DAC-DXB and DAC-MLE.
He has plans how his airline will compete with the other
airlines that operate on the same routes and he
said Bangladeshi passengers mostly preferred their own airlines
and it is Best Air.
Mr. Haider added: "Dealing with this type of aircraft results in
simplified and efficient operations. Such operations mean the
quickest and most cost-effective service possible, and savings
passed on to our customers in the form of competitive fares."

Best Air flights to spread wings on Male, Colombo routes
The Best Air is going to link Dhaka with the capital cities of
two more SAARC countries this month as the private airlines will
launch flights on the Dhaka-Colombo and Dhaka-Male routes from
28th July, 2008.Officials of the Best Air at a press
conference on Thursday announced their flights operation
schedules eyeing to help boost bilateral trades and tourism.‘It
will be a potential step as Bangladesh's capital is going to be
air-linked with capital cities of two more SAARC countries,’
said Mr. M. Haider Uzzarnan, Chairman of the Best Air, while
addressing the press conference at Hotel Sarina in Dhaka on 24th
July, 2008. Now air-passengers from Dhaka to Colombo and Male
need to avail transit in Singapore, Bangkok and Doha which is
very expensive and time consuming.
Best Air officials said although air-traffics on the routes at
present are not satisfactory, but there is a huge potential to
explore in near future. Best Air Chairman observed that
Bangladeshi universities and medical colleges could lure
thousands of Sri Lankan students who spend huge to buy
residential education in the countries across the world.
‘Maldives is the unploughed field for Bangladesh to cultivate
trade and tourism potentials,' Mr. M. Haider Uzzaman informing
that more than 40.000 Bangladeshis now are working in Maldives
and thousands more jobs could be explored the island country
shortly. He said around 7.5 lakh tourists visited Maldives in
last year. If Bangladesh could attract minimum one per cent of
them, the figure would stand at 7500 at least.
The Best Air will operate flights four days a week on the
Dhaka-Colombo and Dhaka-Male routes.
The return fare including taxes is set at $800 for Dhaka to
Colombo and $860 for Dhaka to Male.
